ASSOCIATION MEDCA
We are a group of Slovenian nurses and other experts working to spread the knowledge of the cannabis plant and its active ingredients, synthetic cannabinoids, the endocannabinoid system, the effects and methods of treatment with cannabis and cannabinoids, legal regulation, advocacy, elimination of stigma, and anything relating to the individual care for those who use medicinal cannabis to treat or alleviate health problems.

Our wishes and purpose
We want patients in the Republic of Slovenia to have the opportunity to receive appropriate and safe treatment with cannabis products and to receive the necessary information about it.
We want this information to come from health and medicine or professionals who already have a background in anatomy, physiology and pathology, and who have additionally acquired specialized knowledge regarding the use of cannabinoids in healthcare.
MEDCA’s main purpose is to provide professional training for nurses and other healthcare professionals in the treatment or alleviation of health problems with cannabis products and to provide advice to individuals who wish to or are already being treated with cannabis products.
In addition to its core purpose, MEDCA also aims to bring together nurses and other health professionals, as well as their supporters, friends, researchers and activists for the legal use of cannabis for medical purposes.
We hope to be able to contribute to appropriate formal training for health and medical professionals specifically trained to work with patients being treated with cannabis and/or cannabinoids.

CANNABIS AND CANNABINOIDS IN MEDICINE – HANDBOOK
FOR NURSES

The purpose of the handbook is to provide nurses with an accessible knowledge base so that they can provide their patients and their families with appropriate information, guidance and recommendations for the safe use of medical cannabis or cannabinoid medicines.
The Handbook is currently available only in Slovenian language.
We hope that this handbook will also contribute to the establishment of appropriate formal training for health professionals in Slovenia, particularly nurses who will be specially trained to work with patients who are being treated or whose health problems were being alleviated by cannabis and/or cannabinoids.
